Forest road deep into Ennerdale, the wildest valley in the Lakes. Turn back before Black Sail, where the path has worn badly.

Dogs

The Lake District National Park asks dog walkers to keep dogs on a lead around sheep, especially in lambing season, and near ground-nesting birds in spring and early summer. Keep dogs close near livestock and cliff edges.
