Council-wide dog rules, beaches and named places

Rules added

  • Dogs on a lead all year in Ramsgate and Margate cemeteries and in St George's (Ramsgate), St Peter's (Broadstairs), St John's (Margate) and All Saints (Birchington) churchyards.
  • No dogs at any time on Pegwell Bay's mudflats, saltmarsh, lagoon and chalk shore: it is a protected bird site.
  • No dogs in 33 fenced play areas, including Ellington Park, Dane Park and Dalby Square.
  • Beach bans and lead zones 1 May to 30 September are on the Beaches layer.
  • Put your dog on a lead when an officer asks.

Order from 20 October 2023 for three years. A renewal was consulted on to 9 October 2026; it adds a year-round lead rule on the Northern sea wall between Cold Harbour and Plum Pudding, Birchington.
