Sheffield City Council: dog rules

Council-wide dog rules, beaches and named places

We couldn't find a council-wide dog order for this area. National rules and signs in parks still apply.

No council dog order

  • No dog order. Sheffield uses a voluntary code in parks: keep dogs in sight and under control, and pick up.
  • Short leads are asked for from March to August to protect nesting wildlife.
  • Professional walkers are asked to take no more than six dogs.

Code agreed September 2025, as reported by the Sheffield Star.

Assistance dogs: most council dog orders and beach bans exempt assistance dogs, such as guide and hearing dogs. Check the source if you are unsure.
