New Forest District Council: dog rules

Council-wide dog rules, beaches and named places

We couldn't find a council-wide dog order for this area. National rules and signs in parks still apply.

No council dog order

No council dog order. New Forest District's public space orders ban fires, barbecues and feeding or touching the ponies, not dogs.
Follow the New Forest Code: keep dogs under control and don't let them approach or chase animals. Nesting season rules are on the Countryside layer.

Fire and feeding orders extended for three years from 1 July 2026.

Assistance dogs: most council dog orders and beach bans exempt assistance dogs, such as guide and hearing dogs. Check the source if you are unsure.
