Council-wide dog rules, beaches and named places
Rules added
- One person can walk at most four dogs.
- Lead of 1.5 metres or less in all cemeteries; leads and no-dog areas where signed.
- Put your dog on a lead when asked.
Renewal unchanged for three years from 18 October 2026 was recommended in September 2026. Dog bans also cover some beaches and promenades (Beaches layer).
Assistance dogs: most council dog orders and beach bans exempt assistance dogs, such as guide and hearing dogs. Check the source if you are unsure.
